Personality Nagare is seen as rather cold, or even emotionless at times, as his mannerisms and speech tend to sound robotic to most people (as a child, his family were described by others as "a family of robots" because of their flat way of communicating). He often appears level-headed, and even easy-going about things. Even when confronted with the realization of his “death" as a child, he remained nonchalant about it, stating that he would choose to think of himself as alive as his body was still moving.This attitude is also seen later when Iwa first introduces him to the restraints that keep his overwhelming power as the Green King at bay. While Iwa had complained that restraining Nagare didn't feel right, Nagare reasoned that it was the only suitable option given the situation. Nagare is extremely cunning and capable of coming up with schemes he describes as “elaborate to a fault,” making him an expert strategist, and a formidable leader to his clan.As a King, he is seen as informal. Due to his belief that Kings should not be the only ones who hold power, he doesn’t seem to mind the lack of formalities, and in fact embraces the close bonds he shares with his J-ranking members. Despite being confined to a chair and restrained most of the time, Nagare is very independent, often acting against the advice of others if he feels it’s necessary. He’s not a fan of being told what to do; once he’s made his mind up, he is impossible to reason with.
Deep down, Nagare is still very childish. He treats the world, and even the possibility of opening up the Slates and granting ordinary humans the same power as a king,

like a game and often refers to it as such. He is stubborn, and can easily be provoked if he starts losing. Despite the actions of ◄jungle►, which often seem cruel and unconventional, Nagare doesn’t think of his clan nor their purpose as evil. He strongly believes his goals are in the name of good, and that the idea of forcing humans to evolve and create a new world is the perfect solution.In Nagare’s mind, everyone should have the ability to defend themselves. Kings should not be regarded as “special.” He’s a skilled manipulator, being the mastermind behind Adolf K. Weismann’s return. He is very blunt, even when regarding fragile situations, and isn’t afraid to ask questions even if they seem inappropriate pr insensitive.Pet Peeves Although he remains calm about it, Nagare does express slight irritation if it seems like his clansmen aren’t paying attention to him when he speaks.
Soft Spot: Nagare holds a soft spot for anyone he thinks of as similar to himself. This is seen when he affectionately takes on Kotosaka as a clansmen rather than just a bird after finding him in the ruins of the Kagutsu Crater. It is also seen in his seeming interest in Miyabi Ameno.Family|Upbringing It is assumed he lost any loved ones in the Kagutsu Incident, however that is unclear and he doesn’t speak of it. That said, his upbringing with his parents was a happy one, as was his time growing up with Iwa.

amidst a graveyard of collapsed structures and lifeless bodies, there laid a young boy, his heart crushed by an impact which created a massive crater in the surrounding earth. panicking, a man hurled the rock aside trying to save him. just then, the frail form became shrouded in a brilliant green light, while overhead in the dusty sky, a large green sword appeared. nagare hisui, a casualty in the kagutsu incident, had just been crowned the g r e e n king.

"i became a king with great power, but i haven't decided what i want to do," said the child, the newly crowned green king, upon the mentioning of an apparently mandatory meeting with the gold king, kokujouji daikaku. nagare thought it unfair of them to make him decide so early on what his purpose was. he scowled at the idea of answering to another king in the first place

in general, king was a term he poorly understood. why had he be crowned above anyone else? furthermore, why were there only seven kings? why was it that only certain people had the power to protect themselves in events such as the one that robbed nagare of his heart, and the gray king of his entire clan? over the next few days, a decision was made — perhaps not a widely accepted one, and perhaps a decision that would cause conflict among the other clans, but the ever-changing king had his mind set now, and his ideals didn't waver once they were in place." — i think it would be good if everyone could be their own k i n g . standing at the edge of the dresden slate, power surging through his body, the memory felt so far away. nagare was free — limitless. finally, the new world he spoke so highly of was within ◄jungle►'s reach. "the day where we set the slate free, and give power to all humanity is not far," the green king announced, elated. his eyes were bursting with color, brightened from the excitement of the necessary evolution humankind seemed to have been avoiding until that point. nagare hisui, the ever-changing king would bring forth a reality where everyone could be their own king.
